April 2015: Panel Discussion on “India & Bhutan: Strengthening a Unique Relationship” in New Delhi

To discuss the special India-Bhutan relations, an engaging panel discussion titled, “India & Bhutan: Strengthening a Unique Relationship” was held on 23 April 2015 at the The Oberoi, New Delhi where the distinguished panelists were:
From India
Ambassador Shyam Saran, Chairman, National Security Advisory Board; and
Ravi Singh, Secretary General & CEO, WWF-India

From Bhutan
Dasho Karma Ura, President, Centre for Bhutan Studies & GNH Research; and
Namgay Zam, a Freelance Journalist.

The discussion highlighted the fact Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay chose Bhutan and India as the destinations for their first respective foreign visits. The spread and depth of the bilateral relationship draws from, and is driven by, the national interests of both countries, and encompasses a diverse agenda covering a rich tapestry of cooperation, including several major recent developments in Hydropower, Education, Skill Building and Border Management. The two countries are working towards a new trajectory to enhance this unique relationship further in the contemporary context.
