September 2017:  India-Bhutan Dialogue in New Delhi, India

The eighth round of the India-Bhutan Strategic Dialogue, hosted under the banner of The Thimphu Seminars, was convened by the Centre for Escalation of Peace in collaboration with the Royal Institute of Governance & Strategic Studies (RIGSS) from 4 to 6 September 2017. There was high-level participation of individuals from both countries and the deliberations were focused on Hydropower Cooperation, Transboundary Cooperation in Environmental Conservation & Climate Change, Cross Border Smuggling of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances, and Celebration of 50 years of Diplomatic Relations between India & Bhutan. A welcome Dinner was hosted by H.E. Maj. Gen. V. Namgyel, Ambassador of Bhutan to India, and a lunch was hosted by Mr. Sudhakar Dalela, Joint Secretary (North), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. The delegates also attended the book discussion on “How India Sees the World: From Kautilya to Modi” by Shyam Saran, who also acted as the chair of the Dialogue.
